Janae Herrera was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She attended Manzano High School where participated in everything from cheerleading to soccer and was even student body vice-president. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Communication and Journalism with an emphasis on Broadcast, and minor in American History. Since she was a little girl she’s always enjoyed telling stories. She’s been working in radio since she was 17, and everyday her job allows her to share others stories with the world. She currently has her own show on 93.3kobfm and is a traffic reporter on 99.5magic fm. Janae may have also given you a traffic update on Kob TV channel 4 in the mornings. When Janae is not on the air, she working behind the scenes doing marketing and promotions for the PBS TV station KNME.

 Maggie Bunting was born in Austin, TX, grew up in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She is now back in Albuquerque, and lives in Nob Hill with her boyfriend, three friends, and two adorable cats. She has been a teacher and an events and marketing coordinator, and is currently working as a writer/editor. In her spare time, she loves reading and traveling, and has traveled extensively through Europe and Asia.

 Trey Smith is a local teacher and writer. Originally from Louisiana, he has adopted New Mexico as his home. Trey completed both undergraduate and graduate school at the University of New Mexico. Trey enjoys reading, writing, being outside, spending time with his fiancé and their dog, and exploring our beautiful state. He is currently a Humanities Instructor and was an event coordinator for UNM in his previous career. Trey has also written for several local and national publications. Since he is now a teacher, Trey has been spending his free summer planning his upcoming wedding. He enjoys documenting and commentating on the experience of being a groom heavily involved in the wedding planning process.

Marquis Defek is a freelance journalist, research writer, technical writer and short fiction author living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A native of Wisconsin, he lived in Michigan, Minnesota and California before settling in New Mexico. After working as a netowrk administrator and a locksmith he worked as a staff writer for newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area covering politics, crime and industry and before deciding to become a freelancer. He is currently a contributing writer to several different publications.

Julie Terrell- After 37 years of  living the Texas life, Julie Barron Terrell moved to the East side of the Sandia Mountains in New Mexico. Retiring from publishing childrens books and periodicals and wedding guides, Terrell enjoys writing articles for local and national publications, some fictional stores and copy writing for brochures, newsletters and textbooks. Terrell has been researching and reporting social trends in weddings and parties for more than 15 years.

Joni Saiz is one of the newest members of our staff and has her degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico.  She was raised in Mountainair, NM and currently calls Albuquerque her home.  Working in the writing and advertising field has always been her goal and she is excited to achieve that goal working for NM Event and Wedding Planner Magazine.  She is looking forward to delving into the event and wedding planning business and learning everything she can about it, so that she can help others make their events exactly what they want them to be.

Graphic Design
Matthew Gutierrez was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico He is an artist in many forms as a guitarist, musical producer and graphic designer. Matthew is a business owner of CR music & entertainment, a local entertainment booking agency and retail CD store specializing in local New Mexican Spanish music and Tex-Mex music. His business provides musical services of many types including a retail store-front, musical entertainment, music production, music recording, CD duplication and replication and graphic design. In 2006 is when Matthew obtained more frequent graphic designing projects starting with advertisements, posters, brochures, business cards and compact discs. Since its start, Matthew has designed New Mexico Event & Wedding Planner Magazine from start to finish and now works on other marketing materials and print media.
